How submersible level transmitter work
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a hydrostatic level transmitter?
A hydrostatic level transmitter is a pressure-based instrument that measures the pressure generated by a liquid column. When the liquid density is known, the measured pressure can be converted into liquid level.
What liquids can hydrostatic level transmitters measure?
They can measure water, wastewater and many compatible process liquids. Special models are available for slurry, corrosive liquids and high-temperature applications. Sensor material and temperature limits must be checked before selection.
Can a hydrostatic level transmitter measure solid materials?
No. A hydrostatic level transmitter must be submerged in a liquid so that it can measure liquid-column pressure. It is not intended for dry powder, granules or other solid materials.
Does liquid density affect the measurement?
Yes. Hydrostatic pressure is proportional to liquid density and liquid height. If the density changes because of temperature, concentration or product composition, the indicated level may also change unless suitable compensation is applied.
Which model is suitable for slurry or wastewater?
SUP-P260-M2 features a protected diaphragm, added weight and 316 stainless-steel construction. It is designed to reduce clogging and physical damage in applications containing floating or suspended solids.
Which model is suitable for corrosive liquids?
SUP-P262-B uses PTFE anti-corrosion construction and a ceramic pressure sensor. It can be considered for compatible acids, alkalis and other corrosive liquids after chemical compatibility has been confirmed.
