How temperature transmitter work

Temperature transmitters receive signals from RTD or thermocouple sensors and convert the measured temperature into standardized electrical signal for remote monitoring and control. SUPMEA models such as the SUP-ST500 accept RTD, thermocouple and linear-resistance inputs and provide a 4–20 mA two-wire output.

The transmitter conditions and linearizes the sensor signal, applies cold-junction compensation for thermocouple inputs, and provides configurable input ranges for different sensor types. Selected versions also provide electrical isolation between input and output to improve signal integrity in industrial environments. The standardized output can be sent over long cable runs to PLC, DCS, recorders or indicators, where it is used for display, alarming, data logging and process control.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a temperature transmitter?

A temperature transmitter converts signals from temperature sensors such as RTD and thermocouple into standard electrical output signals for monitoring and control.

SUPMEA temperature transmitters support RTD and thermocouple sensor inputs depending on the transmitter model and configuration.

Common outputs include 4–20mA, HART communication and RS485 communication options.

A temperature sensor detects temperature changes, while a temperature transmitter converts the sensor signal into a standardized output signal for control systems.

Yes. Explosion-proof temperature transmitter solutions are available for applications requiring additional safety protection.

Accuracy depends on the selected model, sensor type and application requirements. High-stability solutions are available for industrial process measurement.

Selection should consider sensor input type, temperature range, output signal, installation method and environmental conditions.
