How signal generator work

A signal generator or process calibrator produces electrical or temperature-equivalent signals to simulate sensors and transmitters. SUPMEA models such as the SUP-C703S can source and measure mA, mV, V, resistance, RTD and thermocouple signals, and provide 24 VDC loop power for transmitter testing. The generated signal can be sent to a PLC, indicator, recorder or controller to verify wiring, scaling, displays, alarms and control logic. Measurement mode allows technicians to read field signals and compare them with expected values. Step, linear-sweep and manual-step outputs simplify loop checks and commissioning.

Safety note: Confirm the terminals, signal type and range before connection. Use the designated measurement and output terminals and observe voltage, load and protection limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

What signals can SUPMEA signal generators source and measure?

The SUP-C703S and SUP-C703 support mA, mV, V, resistance, RTD and thermocouple functions.

Yes. Both product pages list concurrent input and output as a supported feature.

Yes. Both models provide a 24 VDC loop power supply for relevant field-testing applications.

Both models support thermocouple measurement and output with automatic or manual cold-junction compensation. Confirm the required thermocouple type in the product manual before ordering.

The product pages list step sweep, linear sweep and manual-step source patterns.

They are portable field instruments, but the listed operating conditions are -10 to 55°C and 20-80% relative humidity. Protect the device from water, condensation and conditions outside the stated limits.
