How dissolved oxygen meters work

Optical dissolved oxygen sensors use luminescence quenching technology.

A light source excites the fluorescent material, and oxygen molecules affect the fluorescence lifetime. The sensor calculates dissolved oxygen concentration based on this change.

Optical dissolved oxygen sensors use luminescence quenching technology to measure oxygen concentration.

The sensor contains a luminescent material coated on the sensing surface. A light source excites the material, generating luminescence. When oxygen molecules come into contact with the sensing layer, they reduce the luminescence intensity and lifetime.

The sensor measures these changes and calculates the dissolved oxygen concentration based on the relationship between oxygen concentration and luminescence response.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is dissolved oxygen (DO)?

Dissolved oxygen refers to the amount of oxygen dissolved in water. It is an important parameter for water quality monitoring and biological processes.

DO measurement is widely used in wastewater treatment, aquaculture, environmental monitoring, food & beverage and industrial water processes.

Optical sensors use luminescence technology and generally require less maintenance. Polarographic sensors use electrochemical measurement technology and provide reliable continuous monitoring.

Yes. DO sensors are commonly used in wastewater treatment processes, especially for aeration and biological treatment monitoring.

Controllers can support common industrial communication methods such as 4-20mA, RS485 and Modbus.
