Supmea Electromagnetic Flowmeters Support Reliable Flow Monitoring At An Ro Water Plant In Antigua

Time: | Read: 13

Project Overview

A new reverse osmosis (RO) water plant in Antigua required reliable inline flow monitoring at several points in its water treatment process. The project team selected Supmea flowmeters for the first time, seeking a practical solution that could provide continuous measurement, support control-system integration, and operate reliably in the plant’s humid environment.

Application Challenges

The project involved three flow measurement points across pipelines of different sizes. The instruments needed to provide stable and accurate measurements under room-temperature conditions and a process pressure of approximately 0.3 MPa.

The humid installation environment also required suitable enclosure protection. In addition, the flowmeters needed to support standard industrial signal outputs for continuous monitoring and system integration.

Solution Provided

Supmea supplied three LDG-SUP electromagnetic flowmeters for inline pipeline installation.

The selected configuration supports 4–20 mA, pulse, and RS485 outputs with a 24 VDC power supply, enabling local flow measurement and connection to the plant’s monitoring system. The flowmeters were configured with PTFE lining, titanium electrodes, ANSI B16.5 Class 150 flange connections, and an IP65 integrated aluminum-alloy enclosure.

Service and Support

Before delivery, Supmea provided model-selection guidance based on the pipeline arrangement, process conditions, signal requirements, and installation environment.

The technical team also provided online installation guidance to help the customer confirm the mounting and wiring requirements. Warranty support was included as part of the delivery service.

Results and Benefits

All three electromagnetic flowmeters were successfully installed in the new RO water plant, establishing continuous flow monitoring at the required measurement points.

According to customer feedback, manual inspection frequency was reduced from once per day to once per week, significantly reducing the workload associated with routine inspections.

The available 4–20 mA and RS485 signals also provide a foundation for centralized data collection and future process optimization.
